Rocketchix LSUA:

|
Distances: 250 yard swim. 10 mile bike. 2 mile run.

 2007 Post Race Photo
Swim: Rocketchix LSUA will be held in a 25 yard pool with 5 lanes on the LSUA campus. The swim is 250 yards. This will be a "time trial" start where one participant enters the water approx every 10 seconds. Life guards will be in the pool area to provide water support, if necessary.
T1: Exit the swim and enter the first transition (T1). The transition area wil be the holding area for all of your gear. Each participant will have a designated spot for her bike and gear. In T1 you will put on your cycling or running shoes, helmet and sunglasses (optional, recommended), walk your bike to the indicated mount line, get on your bike and head out for your ride.
Red River Cyclery Bike Course: Any type of bike is allowed: skinny tire, fat tire, mountain bike, road bike, tri bike, hybrid, cruiser, etc...The bike course is a 10 mile flat, paved out 'n back course: ride out about 5, make a circle, and ride back home the same way. This will be an open road bike course (meaning traffic is allowed, typically minimal) with signage along the way to alert drivers of "Cyclists on Road."
Bike Course
T2: Participants will return to the transition area after completing her bike ride. As you approach T2, you will get off of your bike at the dismount line, walk your bike to your designated spot, remove helmet, change into running shoes, if necessary, grab your race bib, a run hat and sunglasses (hat and sg's are optional, highly recommended) and out of T2 onto the run.
Run Wild Run Course: The run will be a 2 mile course with 2 out 'n backs on flat, paved roads of the LSUA campus. There will be two hydration stations on the course.

Rocketchix Indian Creek: |

You know what you can do when you put your mind to it, so let's go! Indian Creek offers the best open water swimming venue in Louisiana!

Swim. T1. Bike. T2. Run. Finish!

Race swim caps provided by Run Wild & TYR!

|
TYR Swim Course: A calm, open water swim in a tiny little cove at Indian Creek. This will be a 500 yard swim: approx 235 out, 30 across and 235 back using bright yellow buoys to sight and guide you. There will be approximately 6 manned canoes along the course for your safety, a race provided "sag" swimmer in the rear and a boat at the turn around. Forget about those crazy tales! It's clean, fun, safe and yes, perhaps a challenge for some!

Red River Cyclery Bike Course: Any type of bike is allowed: skinny tire, fat tire, mountain bike, road bike, tri bike, hybrid, cruiser, etc...The bike course will be a 15 mile out back ride on nicely paved roads. This will be an open road bike course (traffic is allowed, however should be minimal) with signage along the way to alert drivers of "Cyclists on Road."
T2: Participants will return to the transition area after completing her bike ride. As you approach T2, you will get off of your bike at the dismount line, walk your bike to your designated spot, remove helmet, change into running shoes (if you wore cycling shoes on bike), grab your race bib, a run hat and sunglasses (hat and sg's are optional, highly recommended) and out of T2 onto the run.

| Ages. Divisions. Awards.
Age Groups: |
Age groups will be in 5 year increments beginning with ages 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, etc...USAT recognizes age on 12/31/09, not your age on race day. NOTE: Relay teams do not compete in age groups.
|
| Two Divisions- Fat Tire & Road Bike: |
Individual participants may enter one of two divisions. The two divisions are classified by the size of your bike tire. It's simple to determine. Just place a ruler across the top of the inflated tire:
Fat Tire: > 1-1/4" Common example: Mountain/Cruiser bike tires Road Bike: =< 1-1/4" Common example: Road/Tri bike tires
NOTE: 700c or 650c wheels are "Road Bikes," even if they are on a straight handled bike.
In other words, the tire type/size determines the division.
|
| Relay Teams: |
There will be one relay division made up of 2-person and 3-person relay teams. On a 2-person team one individual completes 2 disciplines and the other completes one. On a 3-person relay team each member completes either the swim, bike or run. Each member of the relay team will recieve a goody bag & race tee.
|
| Awards: |
Individual awards will be presented to both Road Bike and Fat Tire divisions: the Overall finisher and the Top 3 finishers in age group will receive awards.
Relay awards will be presented to the Top Relay team at each event.
