IS RUN WILD THE RIGHT FIT 4 U?
Run Wild is a fun and rewarding place to work for people who have a passion for quality, guest service and community involvement. We hire people who enjoy living an active lifestyle (ie. runners, walkers, cyclists, tri-athletes and gym goers), serving people and making their day better, while offering superior products and customer care. Run Wild offers great employee benefits which include competitive pay, merchandise discount, and a fun and challenging work environment. Health insurance, retirement plans and vacation are available.
Since our employees are the ones that provide care to our customers, we consider our employees to be one of our most valuable assets. We want good people to join us, stay with us, and grow with us. Therefore, we have to be particular and selective when choosing our employees since there are demands that go along with the position. Our biggest requirement for our employees is to care about our business and our customers and to want to provide superior customer service. We look for amazing people that are willing to put others first and are motivated to continually learn how to better serve our customers. We can teach you our fit process and tell you all about shoes, technical clothing, sports bras, and accessories, but you have to want to be sure that our customers leave the store feeling like we have done everything we can to meet his or her needs. We want you to be proud of the service that you provide for our customers.
Test yourself with these questions:
Do you have a sales sense? Our guests appreciate learning about our products, from shoe technology to the importance of wearing the correct sports bra to the ins and outs of foot pain and shin splints. You should be comfortable (and excited) about suggesting and educating items people might enjoy.
Are you good at switching gears? When guest traffic slows, you will find yourself busy with stocking, cleaning and more. But when somebody walks in the door, your focus has to switch 100% to friendly guest service, even if you are behind in your other tasks.
Can you stay calm and friendly under pressure? Imagine providing superior customer care to 2 guests at the same time (with your other team members doing the same) while 5 more guests are waiting. They all want the same level of attention and care, they want it in a timely fashion, and they want you to be friendly and appreciative. Things can get very busy here and there is always other work to be done. Expect a fast pace for hours on end.
Are you a team player? At Run Wild, you work very closely with other staff members and we all depend on each other and support each other, sometimes under stress or with other things on our mind. And no matter what's going on in your week, your fellow employees will be counting on you to be here 100% when your shift starts. You need to be respectful and patient, and you also need to pull your own weight when it comes to customers and other work that has to get done.
Do you enjoy working around a diverse group of people? At Run Wild, you’ll find that all of our customers are different. Some are elite runners who can run a 6 minute mile and are training for their 25th marathon, some can run a 12 minute mile and are hoping to complete a 5K; and some like to walk a couple of miles a day 3-4 days a week just for the health of it. Some are in high school, others are senior citizens. Some of our customers are single, some have families with small children, and some have recently retired. Just like our customers, our employees also come from all different backgrounds and our fitness abilities vary. We embrace each other’s differences and treat each other with respect. As for our customers, regardless of their different accomplishments and abilities, we treat all of them like royalty and we applaud all of their efforts.
Are you willing to learn new things? People know us as the fit experts. "Fit" does not just refer to shoes but all of our products and our service. You'll need to make an effort to get educated about all of our products, so that you can deliver the level of service our guests have come to expect. We'll help you, but it will be up to you to ask questions and take the time to remember things by writing them down or committing to memory.
Are you able to work weekends and work a varied, flexible schedule? We want to be available to our customers at the times when they are usually off from work or school. This means that we are busiest on weekends, during school breaks, later in the afternoon and/or early evening, as well as general holidays. Since we need to be available at these times for our customers, we need our employees to be available to work at these times, too. Since we also love to be out at races and attend or host special events, there may be times that we need our employees to be available before or after regular work hours.
